Port of Colombo: Foundation Stone Laid for ECT’s Operation & Admin Building

SLPA EVENT: On August 3, 2023, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority held an auspicious ceremony at the Port of Colombo, where they laid the foundation stone for the new Operation and Admin Building of the East Container Terminal, graced by the presence of the esteemed Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation, Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, serving as the patron of the occasion. The event saw the participation of high-ranking officials, including the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation, and key members of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority’s management, such as the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Managing Director, and Additional Managing Directors. Notably, representatives from the Trade Unions of SLPA were also in attendance.

The laying of the foundation stone marks a significant step towards enhancing the port’s capabilities and underscores the country’s commitment to bolstering its maritime infrastructure. The state-of-the-art Operation and Admin Building is poised to play a vital role in facilitating efficient port operations, supporting the growth of international trade, and cementing Sri Lanka’s position as a pivotal maritime hub in the region.
