MV Empress: Trincomalee Welcomes Cordelia Cruises’ Magnificent Cruise Ship

Yesterday, the passenger cruise ship MV Empress, owned by Cordelia Cruises, arrived at Ashroff Jetty in Trincomalee Port with a total of 744 passengers on board. The docking of the ship marked the beginning of its inaugural voyage in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.

MV Empress, the only ship of its class, has a rich history. Originally entering service under the banner of Royal Caribbean International in 1990, it was later transferred to Pullmantur Cruises in 2008. In 2016, the ship made its way back to Royal Caribbean International before ultimately finding its place in the fleet of Cordelia Cruises, an Indian cruise line.

“As the MV Empress embarked on its journey to Chennai, it carried with it the hopes and dreams of the passengers who sought adventure and relaxation,” Mr Saman Perera, Residential Manager of Port of Trincomalee said.
