The 41st Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) was celebrated today (04.08.2020) with all religious activities following health and safety practices at the ‘Sambhuddhathwa Jayanthi’ premises of SLPA.
The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority General Daya Ratnayake addressing the gathering at the event stated that he was much delighted to address the 41st Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, which is at the forefront of the national economy, and stressed that this year the anniversary could not be held in a grand manner due to the Covid-19 situation prevailing in the country.
He further said that it was a great achievement for all to be able to continue the services of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) over the regional ports even during the worst times of the Covid-19 situation and thanked all the officers, staffs and employees of SLPA for their dedicated performance despite the risks during the period.
“I take this opportunity to convey my firm gratitude to His Excellency the President and the Hon. Prime Minister of Ports and Shipping for all the support provided to take the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on a victorious path through the vision of prosperity of the new government and I would also like to extend my warm regards to all Ports Ministers in charge of its development in the past and to all officers, staffs and employees who dedicatedly served in the institution throughout the 41-year long history of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. We must all be determined to make the Sri Lanka Ports Authority a greener environment and the pride of Sri Lankans at the forefront of the world,” he said.
Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping – Ms.Kumari Somarathne, Vice Chairman / Managing Director of SLPA – Mr.W.S.Weeraman, Additional Managing Director of SLPA – Mr. Uplai De Zoysa, Director (Finance) of SLPA – Mrs. Shirani Wanniarachchi, Director (Operations) of SLPA – Mr.Jayantha Perera, a number of higher Executive officers of SLPA and its management, staffs and employees also attended the occasion.
