The Chairman of SLPA – General Daya Ratnayake thanked all levels of employees and staff members of the institution for their dedicated efforts to maintain all operations of the port without hindrance at this very moment of national necessity.
A special function was held today, 21st April 2020 at the Chaithya Premises of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) to commemorate the victims of Pasku Sunday terrorist attacks last year. The programme that was organized by the Buddhist Association of SLPA was held with religious observances of Maha Sangha and with the initiative of General Daya Ratnayake, Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). SLPA’s Managing Director – Capt. Athula Hewavitharana, Additional Managing Director – Mr.Upali De Zoysa, Director (Finance) – Mrs. Shirani Wanniarachchi, Director (Operations) – Mr.Jayantha Perera, Director (Logistics) – Mr. Upul Jayatissa, Director (Security) – Major General Gamini Hettiarachchi, Chief Engineer (Civil) – Mr.M.S.S.Devapriya and Harbour Master – Capt. Nirmal Silva were also present at the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of SLPA – General Daya Ratnayake said that the programme was aimed to commemorate all those who died and those who became victims of the brutal terrorist attack on Pasku Sunday of April 21st last year. “ The attack was carried out aiming Catholic community and several foreigners residing in the country while the nation was still enjoying peace after successfully ending a 30 years of terrorist war. At this hour of mourn, we would like to express our heartfelt condolence and all due respectful gratitude and honour to all who died in these attacks. We would also like to convey our heartiest message of goodwill to those all who were affected and still suffer from the incident to get well soon,” he said.
He also said that the event was marked amidst a global health challenge that has equally being faced by the motherland and that he would be thankful for the leadership of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the government, all Three Forces, the Police, health authorities and all parties for their immense collective contribution to defeat the health issue of the Covid – 19 and maintain routine lifestyles of the people with all possible measures.
