Sri Lanka Ports Authority celebrates 40th anniversary

Sri Lanka Ports Authority celebrated its 40th anniversary on 1 August. The official commemoration program was held at the Chaithya premises with the initiative of Minister of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayaka.

Following religious observances Minister Sagala Ratnayaka, addressing the gathering, stated that the day was important not only to SLPA, but also to the entire nation. “Established through the vision of late Minister of Ports Lalith Athulathmudali, SLPA has continued to extend an immense strength to the national economy,” he said.

The Minister also said that he would take the best decisions on behalf of the institution, employees and the country.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority achieved several important achievements throughout the recent past that elevated its position in the global maritime industry. The Minister said that he appreciated the dedicated performance of all sectors of employees of SLPA who worked towards such achievements.

SLPA Chairman Kavan Ratnayaka, Managing Director Capt. Athula Hewavitharana, Director (Finance) Shirani Wanniarachchi, Director (Operations) Jayantha Perera, Director (Technical) Chandrakanthi Lokuhewage, Director (Human Resources) P. Ranathunga, Director (Security) Maj. Gen. Gamini Hettiarachchi, and a number of Directors, Divisional Heads, Officials and employees of SLPA were also present at the occasion.
