No one in SLPA infects with Covid19 – Chairman

Responding to inaccurate news published in several media outlets and social media in the country, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, General Daya Ratnayake reaffirmed that no one in the Sri Lanka Ports Authority has infected with the Covid-19 virus. He was speaking to the media this morning (19).

He said that all operations and other activities of the Colombo Port are going on as usual without any hindrance.

Meanwhile, “there are several institutions functioned in the port and a group of individuals in one such institution have infected with the Covid-19 virus,” said General Daya Ratnayake.

He said that the employees of the SLPA and other terminals are carrying out their professional duties with utmost dedication and follow the health instructions correctly. He further said that randomly selected groups will be subjected to routine antibody tests and PCR tests to ensure the health of all those working in and using the port.

Meanwhile, General Ratnayake visited the container terminals and several other divisions yesterday (October 18) and observed the operations of the Port.

There, he reiterated the importance of strictly adhering to all health care procedures recommended by health authorities to protect against the Covid 19 virus.
