March 8, International Women’s Day, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Chairman General Daya Ratnayake said steps should be taken to protect the rapidly decaying wildlife resources in the country. He made these remarks while addressing the Tree Planting Program organised by the SLPA was held on March 10, 2020 at Sambuddha Jayanthi premises in the Colombo Port.
Speaking further General Daya Ratnayake said that the SLPA has organised many programmes to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day and that this Tree Planting Programme is one of them. He has emphasized that mothers and women have a special respectful place in Sri Lankan society always.
Gen. Ratnayake has reaffirmed the importance of contributing to the upliftment of environment as a need of the hour and he called for the support of all.
