Sri Lanka Ports Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development launched its exclusive and dedicated news website news.slpa.lk today, 21st February 2019.

Hon. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe visited the Kankesanthurai area today to discuss the implementation of the USD 45.27 million development project for the KKS harbour.

Honorable Minister of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayaka said the Galle harbour, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest harbours, would be transformed into a tourist port under a comprehensive development plan. Hon. Minister made these remarks following an observation tour to the Galle harbour yesterday.

peaking to the media at the Colombo Port today after a brief observation tour last morning (7), the Hon. Minister said he also expected a report from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the matter.

The Minister said that his prime duty was to ensure a transparent process be followed in the SLPA. He also advised officials to refrain from engaging in transactions through illegal or fraudulent means.

The two new pilot boats will be faster than other boats in the fleet and will be better equipped to handle modern ships that frequently visit the country’s busiest port

To understand the importance of a national policy for the alignment of maritime and logistics sectors to reap the benefits towards the development of Sri Lanka, the final draft of the National Policy for Maritime and Logistics Sectors presented to the Honourable Minister of Ports & Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayaka in an event held at the Ministry, on 31 January 2019.
