SLPA Hosts Hapag-Lloyd Team for Focused Talks on Port Operations

Senior leadership from Hapag-Lloyd and Hanseatic Global Terminals met with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) in Colombo today, signalling a purposeful step toward reinforcing their working relationship as Colombo continues to handle rising volumes across its main terminals. Capt. Dheeraj Bhatia, Board Member of Hapag-Lloyd AG and CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals, arrived with Sanjay Kushwah, Managing Director for Hapag-Lloyd Area HW India, and Javier Olivos, Senior Director of Hanseatic Global Terminals, alongside Iqram Cuttilan, Managing Director of Aitken Spence Shipping, for discussions centred on operational alignment and forward-looking port requirements.

The dialogue was direct and business-focused, covering berth readiness, service dependability, and measures to ensure the port’s systems remain steady and responsive as shipping lines recalibrate their regional calls. Both sides were said to have approached the conversation with an emphasis on practical, mutually beneficial outcomes. As the port advances its development agenda, the understandings reached today are expected to feed into a more structured path for future cooperation.
