Shipyard operations of the Colombo Dockyard PLC resumed today focusing strict health guidelines in order to redeliver the ongoing projects at the earliest, the management said.
In a statement, it said proactive measures have been taken to carry out nearly 2,000 PCR screening of the yard team members so far.
“Those who test positive are being treated while the first contacts have been quarantined and the situation is being diligently attended in coordination with the authorities,” it said.
It said the ship repair and shipbuilding teams are housed in special accommodations (Hotels) and health screened/cleared are shuttled to the shipyard for resuming work.
“This process will be reviewed for any further improvements as the operation continues and numbers will be increased to meet the production requirements,” the management said.
Colombo Dockyard also said it has taken all possible measures to ensure the welfare of employees and their families during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Our team has gone to the extent of providing essential support to the relevant hospitals where our employees are being treated. An in-house task force is continuously following up on the well-being of the affected members and families,” it said.
