Note from the editorial: The departure of a colleague

The bereavement of Mr A.C. M. K. Rahman, editor of the Tamil edition of our news website, due to a sudden illness is an event that brings unbearable pain to us. His last rites were performed at the Mosque’s cemetery in his hometown Sammanthurai.

He served as an Assistant Manager of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. His contribution to the success of port operations, especially in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic including contribution to the prepare the Covid-19 Pandemic Eradication Guideline and function of operational room set up by the management to address the emerging challenges due to the global health emergency is commendable.

In addition to working for the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Mr Rahman has worked as a freelance journalist for decades for a number of media institutions, including the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. We feel that the vacuum created by the sudden demise of this popular benefactor among many Tamil speakers will never be filled.

Rahman, who has been sincerely contributing to the success of our news website since its inception, has been instrumental in popularizing the website among Tamil speaking readers.

We pray that he will be able to enter the paradise he wished for according to his faith. May God forgive him, have mercy on him, and cause him to enter the Paradise!
