The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has received considerable attention by spreading false rumours about the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Colombo Port, using various pseudo names.
Unfortunately, various unknown parties are trying to spread these fake news using some media and social media outfits.
The purpose of these fake news releases, using the Covid-19 pandemic, maybe to damage our reputation and disrupt its essential services. Yet another “letter” related to this has been circulating on social media where it has mentioned the port operations have been suspended until July 15. There is no truth in it.
As in other instances, during the Covid-19 pandemic, all operations at the Colombo Port have been carried out successfully, following the recommended health guidelines. Colombo Port is the only port in South Asia that has continuously provided its services during this pandemic.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority, therefore, urges all parties not to be misled by the fake news propagated by various parties to achieve various narrow objectives.
