The Minister paid special attention to look into the welfare facilities of the employees of the Galle Port during the inspection visit.
Minister of Ports and Highways Kanaka Herath visited the Galle Port recently with the objective of transforming the Galle Port into a tourism Port.
Minister Kanaka Herath said that no development work had been carried out in the Galle port since 2005. He also stated that steps will be taken to commence the breakwater development of the Galle port and expand tourism promotion facilities for cruise ships.
The Minister also paid special attention to look into the welfare facilities of the employees of the Galle Port during the inspection visit. Minister of Plantation Industries and Export Agriculture Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Secretary to the Ministry of Ports Development Affairs NPVC Piyathilaka, Resident Manager of Galle Port KAKNW Weerasinghe and President of the Commercial Industry and Services Progressive Workers Union Trade Union representatives including Mr. Kumara Weligama were also present.
