SLPA Signs Terminal Services Agreement with Maersk to Enhance Operations

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) today, 22 August 2025, signed a Terminal Services Agreement (TSA) with Maersk, one of the world’s foremost shipping and logistics companies. This landmark partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency and increasing throughput at the Port of Colombo. The agreement highlights SLPA’s commitment to delivering world-class services and reinforcing its role as a leading maritime hub in the region.

On behalf of SLPA, Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe (Rtd), Chairman, Eng. Herath M. P. Jayawardhana, Vice Chairman, Eng. Ganaka Hemachandra, Managing Director, and other senior officers attended the event, welcoming the Maersk delegation and witnessing the ceremonial signing of the TSA.

The Maersk delegation comprised Ms Zsanett Balla, Head of Operations for the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East & Africa; Mr Nishish Saxena, Head of Terminal & Ocean Procurement for India and the Middle East; Mr Biju Ravi, Country Manager of Maersk Lanka Pvt Ltd; and Mr Thilina Udayanga Perera, Port Execution Lead, Colombo. The visit facilitated high-level discussions between the two institutes, reinforcing strategic collaboration and operational synergies.

The Marketing and Business Development Division of SLPA, together with the TSA committee, played a central role in coordinating the agreement and the ceremonial proceedings, reflecting the Authority’s focus on forging world-class partnerships and enhancing port operations.
