MSC, the world’s largest container line and the highest-volume carrier at the Port of Colombo, confirmed a renewed commitment to its operations in Sri Lanka today. Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority have signed a new Terminal Service Agreement that will govern the next phase of our cooperation. The agreement focuses on operational clarity, service efficiency and capacity planning to support expected increases in throughput. Both parties view this as a practical step that will strengthen day-to-day coordination and support the port’s long-term performance.
MSC, founded in 1970 and headquartered in Geneva, has grown from a single-vessel operation into the world’s leading container shipping company with services across all major global trade routes. Over the years, the line has played a central role in the Port of Colombo’s development as a key transshipment hub in the region, consistently contributing the highest annual container volumes. Its long-standing presence, fleet scale and network strength have made MSC a top partner in Colombo’s operational and commercial advancement.
