As part of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) course curriculum, Course Participants undertake subject-related visits during Term 1 to enhance their practical understanding of key operational and strategic infrastructures. Accordingly, a new batch of Course Participants visited the Port of Colombo on 17 March 2025. The delegation comprised a total of 190 officers, including 38 faculty members and 152 Course Participants, among whom 27 were foreign officers.
During the visit, senior officials of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, including Harbour Master Captain Nirmal Silva, provided an in-depth briefing on the port’s operations, facilities, and services. The delegation received a comprehensive overview of the port’s role in national and regional trade, maritime security, and logistics management.
This visit offered participants valuable insights into the operational dynamics of one of South Asia’s busiest ports, contributing to their academic and professional development in strategic and defence-related studies.
