Bangladesh Support for Shipping Industry in Sri Lanka is vital – SLPA Chairman

A meeting between the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka  His Excellency Tareq Md Ariful Islam and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Capt. Nihal Keppetipola was held today (08th July 2021) at the Chairman’s office of the SLPA.

The Chairman of SLPA has warmly welcomed the High Commissioner and both parties shared views on the current state of the shipping industry in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Speaking further, the Chairman Capt. Nihal Keppetipola said that Bangladesh is a friendly country to Sri Lanka as well as a long-standing customer of the Port of Colombo. He also commended Bangladesh support in making the Port of Colombo a hub port in South Asia.

He emphasized the importance of bilateral and regional strategic cooperation and coordination for the future development of the regional shipping industry.

They exchanged mementoes at the end of the meeting.
