SLPA Female Crane Operators Receive Excellence Award

Ten courageous female employees at Sri Lanka Ports Authority have been felicitated with an award to recognise their heroic performances in becoming South Asia’s first ever all-female crane operator team.

The awards honour women in the region who have overcome exceptional challenges to excel in their sector. The women received the 2020 Change Makers for Women award, given every year by the international organisation Women In Management, the International Finance Corporation and Australian Aid.

This is the second time that these female Crane operators, who have added a new dimension to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority’s Container Operations, have been honoured with excellence award, having previously won the Gold Prize at the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka (NUSS) Awards.
