Three new reach stackers required for the operational activities of the Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA), were purchased and handed over to its Logistics and Operation Divisions by the Chairman of SLPA Dr. Prasantha Jayamanna parallel to the 43rd anniversary of the SLPA.
‘ These reach stackers had been first purchased by the SL Army and SLPA’s purchasing them through Sri Lanka Army was made for a cost of approximately 165 million rupees via the approval of the Treasury that would otherwise cost approximately more than 600 million rupees according to the present market value, the Chairman of SLPA noted.
SLPA Chairman also noted that successful utilization of these new machinery equipment purchased at a comparatively low rate of cost is expected to efficiently boost operational activities of the SLPA at a time where there exist difficulties in purchasing such machines and equipment at high prices.
The Vice Chairman of SLPA Mr.G.U.K. Algewattege, SLPA’s Managing Director Mr. Upul Jayatissa, Mr. Susantha Abeysiriwardena (Addl. Managing Director – Technical), Chief Operating Officer (Services) Mr. P. A. R. D. Pathiraja and Chief Engineer (Mechanical Plants) Mr. M. S. A. Pathirage also participated in the occasion.
