Cabinet approval has been granted to implement a comprehensive integrated CCTV Camera system to ensure the safety of the Colombo Port.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority has submitted the proposal to establish a comprehensive security camera system covering all entrances to the port premises, cargo, warehouses, terminals, open storage areas, roads, perimeter fences and the break water entrances to the harbor to observe, monitor and record all activities happening in those places.
The system is expected to further assure the security of the Colombo Port, increase the productivity and efficiency and create a conducive environment for the commercial activities in the Port of Colombo.
Accordingly, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports & Shipping, to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee and a Technical Evaluation Committee for same, was approved by the Cabinet.
