The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has a significant place in the maritime history of Sri Lanka. Established in 1979, under the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Act, it took over the management and development of the country’s major ports. The SLPA’s focus on operational efficiency and customer service has been instrumental in its success. The authority implemented advanced port management systems and procedures, enhancing productivity, reducing turnaround times, and improving overall port performance. Additionally, the SLPA prioritized environmental sustainability by implementing green initiatives and adopting eco-friendly practices to minimize the ecological impact of port operations. Today, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority continues to be a driving force in the economic growth of Sri Lanka.
