General (Retd) Daya Ratnayake who assumed office on 20th December 2019 is the 26th Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). He was formerly the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army (2013-2015) with a distinguished career record for holding key positions not only in the spheres of military but in the civilian domain alike.

As a country, Sri Lanka has a huge capacity and in the maritime sphere the companies and government institutions work towards a common goal in a unified effort with an iota of competition which I perceive as being healthy.
